Often overlooked, the hands receive just as much exposure to the sun and elements as the face – and the signs of aging are just as apparent.

Often times we address the visible signs of aging in the face but we ignore the hands. Very commonly we hear from our patients that they look and feel great but they complain, “My hands give away my age”.

 

The Problems

• Volume loss – the wasted or skeleton-like appearance of the back of the hands, with a bony appearance and prominent veins and tendons.
• Thinning skin – particularly on the back of the hands.
• Uneven texture, pigmentation and dark spots – from years of sun exposure.

 

The Solutions

• Products, Peels and Lasers – to address texture, pigmentation and dark spots.
• Volume replacement with dermal fillers – to correct the skeleton-like appearance and prominent veins, bones and tendons. A variety of injectable dermal fillers can be used and Dr. Maguire typically uses Radiesse®, Artefill® or Sculptra®. This is a simple in-office procedure with minimal bruising or swelling and essentially no down time.
