New procedures make skin rejuvenation easier and more effective than ever. Top plastic surgeon Dr. Sean Maguire, of Louisville’s Physician’s Center for Beauty, discusses how FACEtite and Morpheus8 can turn back the years and give you a smoother, firmer complexion.
FACEtite
Think of FACEtite as a facelift alternative. FACEtite works via a combination of radiofrequency waves and liposuction. A more youthful appearance is achieved by melting excess fat and tightening loose skin.
The minimally invasive process, also known as radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL), is a one-time procedure with benefits that may last for several years. Although the name promotes its use on the face, FACEtite is also suitable for body contouring.
How FACEtite Procedure Works
First, a local anesthetic is placed on the treatment areas. A tiny incision is made, into which the surgeon inserts a small device emitting radiofrequency waves. These waves cause fat cells to liquefy. A tube suctions the fat out.
Along with fat removal, the skin is contoured and tightened.
FACEtite patients may experience minor swelling or bruising for a few days after the procedure. Most people can return to work two days post-treatment. While skin appears smoother within a short time after treatment, expect a few months to pass for full results.
Morpheus8
Consider Morpheus8 therapy on its own or in conjunction with FACEtite. Technically, Morpheus8 is termed a subdermal adipose remodeling device (SARD). For practical purposes, it is a device combining radiofrequency waves with microneedling. The technology permits the non-surgical contour of the tissue beneath the skin.
Morpheus8 is a suitable choice for those who do not want to undergo laser surgery or other surgical options for skin rejuvenation.
How Morpheus8 Microneedling Works
Collagen is the body’s most abundant protein, but levels decline with age. Loss of collagen means loss of skin’s firmness. That leads not only to lines and wrinkles but to age spots and other issues.
When hundreds of tiny needles are stuck in the face, hundreds of micro-injuries result. This process, known as microneedling, causes the body to produce more collagen to help these minute injuries heal. Skin appears revitalized, but the benefits go far beyond that.
Morpheus8 offers deeper treatment than standard microneedling. It can minimize acne scars, including those from cystic acne. Fine lines and wrinkles are diminished. Acne causes hyperpigmentation in some people, and Morpheus8 can reduce or eliminate the discoloration.
Microneedling is a painless and safe process. Clients may experience temporary skin reddening.
