You are unique, and so is your skin. While everyone can benefit from facial treatments, they are not one-size-fits-all. A sophisticated computer analysis can show you the effect various treatment options will have on your skin. You’ll know exactly what to expect ahead of time. Top plastic surgeon Dr. Sean Maguire of Physician’s Center for Beauty in Louisville discusses how a Skin Consultation/Visia Complexion Analysis can determine the most realistic improvements facial treatments can achieve.
Visia Complexion Analysis
Visia Complexion Analysis uses UV and cross-polarized lighting to record and measure skin conditions, including those below the surface.
Visia does more than analyze. It can also diagnose certain skin ailments or point out areas of concern. The patient receives a customized report with facial rejuvenation recommendations, as well as a plan for ongoing skin care. Because the report is so detailed, there is an excellent understanding of how it will respond to all treatments, including pharmaceutical skincare products.
The Visia system is very safe, and there are no side effects. The Visia process does not end after the analysis is complete and a treatment protocol decided upon. After treatment starts, tracking progress can be accomplished simply by comparing current vs. past images.
How It Works
The Visia system consists of two parts. The first part involves the camera, formally known as a capture module. The patient sits in one place while the capture module rotates around them taking constant, consistent images. Front, left and right facial views are captured and analyzed automatically.
Although most patients have images captured when skin is freshly cleaned, it is possible to undergo a session in which new or old makeup is present. The algorithm adjusts for these differentials.
Part two consists of the software that classifies complexion, skin type analysis and offers the closest look possible at many skin conditions.
Problems and Solutions
After Visia identifies the problems, the next step is identifying the solutions. That involves an individualized treatment plan. Here are some treatment plan options for certain conditions Visia analyzes:
- Acne – Chemical peel, dermal needling
- Age spots – IPL skin rejuvenation, or photo-facial; laser therapy
- Enlarged pores – dermal needling
- Hyperpigmentation – Chemical peels
- Lines and wrinkles – Chemical peels; Botox; injectable fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Bellafill to restore volume; Ultherapy, non-surgical skin tightening
- Rosacea – IPL skin rejuvenation
- Spider veins – IPL skin rejuvenation, laser therapy
